Michael Twelftree (2017)
Michael Twelftree, Two Hands Wines
Michael Twelftree, Proprietor and Managing Director of Two Hands Wines, will serve as the Honorary Chair of the 2017 Main Line Wine Gala. The gala is scheduled for October 18 at Philadelphia Country Club. Master Chef Friedrich Gitschner, CMC, AAC, will design a four-course meal to highlight each pairing introduced by Michael.
Michael will present the vineyard's top wines including the Flagship Series Ares Shiraz. In 2004, Robert M. Parker pronounced Two Hands as "the finest negociant operation south of the equator." Two Hands was recognized by Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list for ten consecutive years beginning in 2002, an achievement without equal by any winery in the world.
The Main Line Wine Gala celebrates the biggest names in the world of wine to benefit Resources for Human Development. Past Honorary Chairs include Alessia Antinori from Italy, Marcus Notaro from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and Laurent Drouhin from France.
Michael came to the wine industry from a construction background, but his passion for wine developed over many years and he founded Two Hands Wines in 1999. Michael has a well-known love for all wine and he spends many weeks a year traveling to taste some of the greatest wines from the most revered wine regions of the globe, adding to his personal (and impressive) cellar along the way. From day one, Michael’s role has been multifaceted being involved in the day to day running of Two Hands from vineyard management through to winemaking and production. With a flair for marketing and creativity, Michael is always injecting fresh ideas and constantly nutting out new ways to keep the brand evolving.
